The DaVinci of cameras: Introducing the Nikon D3X Digital SLR
Nikon has done it again… in a big way… an Extreme 24.5-Megapixel big way. With the release of the new D3X Digital SLR you’re not only taking pics of Santa for the holidays you’re taking pics of the lice growing in his beard. A D70 owner myself which was one of the best digital cameras released at it’s time; I can only imagine the quality of Nikon digital cameras years later with the latest sensor technology.
Early reports have it that this camera boasts a 6048x4032 FX-format CMOS sensor giving it its 24.5-megapixel resolution which translates to a file that is over 138 MB. It has the capability to shoot 5 fps burst speed (at 7.1 MB JPEG quality) and Nikon Core Technologies. What really sets this camera apart from others is Nikon’s meticulous attention to image quality and low noise detail. Colors, dynamic range and sharpness are absolutely phenomenal. Image files can be saved as TIFF, JPEG or NEF (RAW) in 12 or 14 bit compressed or uncompressed stored on CF media.
Who can benefit from this camera?

Everyone who takes a professional level of photography and image quality seriously. Artist to professional studio work will find the D3X to be the best camera in it’s class. Although with a hefty $8 000 U.S price tag I wouldn’t think you would take this camera for you’re trip to the zoo with the wife and kids… But hey WHY NOT? If you wanted to have a billboard sized image of little Timmy feeding the elephants then by all means got for it. But I would like to think this camera is most suited for landscape, high fashion, portrait, product, weddings, architecture, large billboard and poster production. With a sensitivity range starting from ISO 100 to ISO 1600 you can be sure the D3X can handle pictures perfectly indoors and out. And you can be sure as with most Nikon cameras quality and durability is not factor as this camera is housed in a magnesium alloy body with new carbon fiber/Kevlar ® shutter blades.
As this cameras is released just in time for Christmas I can think of better ways to spend 8 000 dollars, like paying off bad debt. But if I were a professional photographer I would not hesitate in looking into this masterpiece of a camera which only Nikon can hold so clearly as their own.
